GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

The 600A Welding Neck Flange (WN) is a high-performance flange designed for piping systems where strength, reliability and resistance to demanding operating conditions are essential. Its distinctive long tapered hub is specifically engineered to provide a smooth transition between the flange and the pipe, helping distribute mechanical stresses more evenly throughout the connection.

Unlike Slip-On flanges, the Welding Neck Flange is connected directly to the pipe by a full-penetration butt weld. The pipe end is aligned with the neck of the flange and welded around its circumference, creating a strong and continuous connection. This design provides excellent structural integrity and makes the Welding Neck Flange particularly suitable for installations exposed to high pressures, elevated temperatures, vibration, pressure fluctuations or significant mechanical loads.

One of the main advantages of the Welding Neck design is its tapered hub. The gradual transition from the flange thickness to the pipe wall helps reduce localized stress concentration at the connection point and allows loads to be transferred more efficiently from the flange into the pipeline. This characteristic contributes to improved fatigue resistance and long-term reliability, especially in critical industrial piping systems.

The internal bore of the flange can be selected to correspond closely with the internal diameter of the connected pipe, helping provide a smooth flow transition through the joint. This reduces unnecessary internal discontinuities and makes the Welding Neck Flange particularly suitable for applications where consistent flow conditions and reliable pipeline performance are important.

Thanks to its strong butt-welded connection and reinforced neck configuration, the 600A Welding Neck Flange is widely suited to demanding pipeline systems involving process fluids, water, steam, oil, gas and other industrial media, subject to the selected material, pressure class and project specifications. It is particularly appropriate for process plants, pumping systems, energy installations and other applications where dependable performance over long service periods is required.

The 600A Welding Neck Flange is available in an extensive dimensional and pressure range, from approximately 3/8" up to 160", with nominal pressure ratings from PN2.5 bar up to PN400 bar and ASME pressure classes from Class 150 up to Class 2500, depending on the applicable standard, size, material and configuration.

A wide selection of flange facing options is available, including Flat Face (FF), Raised Face (RF), Male and Female (MFM), Tongue and Groove (TG) and Ring Type Joint (RJ). This allows the sealing configuration to be selected according to operating pressure, gasket design, mating flange and specific project requirements.

As part of the 600A flange range, Welding Neck Flanges can be manufactured according to internationally recognized flange systems including GB, ASME, JIS and DIN standards, providing compatibility with a broad variety of piping specifications and international projects. Applicable manufacturing standards may include HG/T 20592, HG/T 20615, GB/T 9119, JB/T 81, NB/T 47020–NB/T 47027, ASME B16.5, JIS B2238/JIS B2239 and applicable DIN standards, according to the required dimensions and configuration.

Different material options can also be supplied to meet specific mechanical, temperature and corrosion-resistance requirements, including Q235, A105, 20#, 20G, 16Mn, Q245R, Q345R, S304, S304L, S316, S316L and other alloy materials.

The combination of a full-penetration butt-welded connection, tapered stress-relieving hub, excellent mechanical strength, high pressure capability, multiple sealing face options and a wide range of international standards and materials makes the 600A Welding Neck Flange an ideal solution for critical and demanding industrial piping systems.

Flanges can also be customized according to customer drawings and specific project requirements, including dimensions, bore, material, pressure rating, flange facing and applicable standard.
