GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The 600A Socket Welding Flange (SW) is designed to provide a compact, strong and accurately aligned connection for small-diameter piping systems, particularly where reliable performance under medium to high pressure conditions is required. Its characteristic internal socket allows the pipe end to be inserted directly into the flange before welding, providing controlled positioning and helping achieve a stable and correctly aligned connection.
One of the main advantages of the Socket Welding design is its ease of pipe positioning during fabrication. The machined internal recess acts as a guide for the pipe, simplifying fit-up and helping maintain proper alignment before the joint is completed. Once correctly positioned, the pipe is secured to the flange by an external fillet weld, creating a strong and compact permanent connection.
Compared with threaded connections, the welded configuration eliminates the need for a threaded pipe-to-flange joint and provides a dependable connection for applications where mechanical strength, pressure integrity and long-term reliability are important. Its compact geometry also makes the Socket Welding Flange particularly suitable for installations where available space is limited.
Socket Welding Flanges are commonly used in small-bore industrial piping systems, process installations, pumping systems, utility lines and other applications requiring a secure welded connection to flanged valves, fittings, instruments or equipment. Their socket configuration facilitates accurate assembly while the standard flange connection provides convenient integration with other flanged components within the pipeline.
The design is especially practical where repeated dimensional accuracy is required during fabrication, as the internal socket provides a defined pipe insertion area prior to welding. This can help simplify assembly, reduce alignment adjustments and improve installation efficiency when multiple flanged connections are incorporated into a piping system.
The 600A Socket Welding Flange is available in sizes from approximately 3/8" up to 3", with nominal pressure ratings ranging from PN10 bar up to PN100 bar and ASME pressure classes from Class 150 up to Class 1500, depending on the selected size, material, applicable standard and configuration.
A wide selection of flange facing options is available, including Raised Face (RF), Male and Female (MFM), Tongue and Groove (TG) and Ring Type Joint (RJ). This allows the sealing configuration to be selected according to the operating pressure, gasket arrangement, mating flange and specific requirements of the piping system.
As part of the 600A flange range, Socket Welding Flanges can be manufactured according to internationally recognized flange systems including GB, ASME, JIS and DIN standards, providing compatibility with a broad range of industrial piping specifications and international projects. Applicable manufacturing standards may include HG/T 20592, HG/T 20615, GB/T 9119, JB/T 81, NB/T 47020–NB/T 47027, ASME B16.5, JIS B2238/JIS B2239 and applicable DIN standards, depending on the required product specification.
A broad range of materials can also be supplied to meet different mechanical, temperature and corrosion-resistance requirements, including Q235, A105, 20#, 20G, 16Mn, Q245R, Q345R, S304, S304L, S316, S316L and other alloy materials, according to project and service requirements.
