GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The 500A MJ Flanged Socket provides a robust and versatile connection solution for joining a plain-ended pipe to a flanged pipeline, valve, pump or other network component. Combining a Mechanical Joint (MJ) socket connection at one end with a flanged connection at the other, it offers a practical transition between different joining systems while providing reliable sealing and installation flexibility.
Manufactured from high-strength ductile iron EN-GJS-500-7, the fitting offers excellent mechanical resistance, durability and long-term performance, making it particularly suitable for demanding water infrastructure applications such as drinking water networks, bulk water storage, process water systems, pump stations, sewage water networks and irrigation projects.
One of the main advantages of the MJ connection is its practical assembly system. The plain-ended pipe is inserted into the socket, while the bolted gland and sealing system provide controlled compression around the pipe to achieve a secure and watertight connection. This configuration simplifies installation and provides an effective solution where welding or a second flanged connection is not required.
The Mechanical Joint design is particularly advantageous for pipeline installation, maintenance, repair and network modification works, as it facilitates the connection of plain-ended pipework to flanged equipment. Its bolted construction also provides convenient access during assembly and future maintenance operations.
At the opposite end, the flanged connection allows straightforward integration with valves, pumps, meters, fittings and other flanged components, making the MJ Flanged Socket an efficient transition piece between plain-ended pipelines and flanged installations. This versatility is especially valuable in pump stations, valve chambers and existing water networks, where different connection systems frequently need to be combined.
The compact and robust design of the fitting helps provide a dependable connection while simplifying pipeline layouts and reducing the need for additional transition components. By combining the MJ socket and flange within a single fitting, installation can be made more practical and efficient.
Available in a range from DN40 up to DN600, the fitting is designed according to EN 545, with flange end connections according to EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16. A 250-micron epoxy coating provides reliable corrosion protection and contributes to long-term service life, while WRAS certification makes the product suitable for drinking water applications.
Designed for working pressures up to PN16 / 16 bar, with pressure ratings of 1.0 MPa and 1.6 MPa and an operating temperature range from -10°C to +90°C, the 500A MJ Flanged Socket provides a reliable and adaptable connection solution for a wide variety of water pipeline systems.
