GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
 

The 500A Loose Flanged Duck Foot Bend provides a robust and practical solution for pipeline installations where a 90° change in direction combined with additional structural support is required. Its characteristic duck foot design incorporates an integral supporting base, allowing the fitting to provide a stable transition between horizontal and vertical pipeline sections while improving stability at the installation point.

 

Manufactured from high-strength ductile iron EN-GJS-500-7, the fitting combines excellent mechanical performance, durability and installation flexibility, making it particularly suitable for demanding water infrastructure applications such as drinking water networks, bulk water storage, process water systems, pump stations, sewage water networks and irrigation projects.

One of its main advantages is the loose flange design. The loose flange can be rotated during installation, allowing the bolt holes to be easily aligned with the mating flange. This considerably simplifies assembly, particularly when connecting the fitting to existing pipelines, valves, pumps or other flanged equipment where flange orientation may not be precisely predetermined.

By allowing easier flange alignment, the loose flange system helps reduce installation time, avoid unnecessary forcing or repositioning of the fitting and minimize installation stress on the connected pipeline or equipment. It also provides greater flexibility during maintenance and replacement operations.

 

A distinctive advantage of the Duck Foot Bend is its integrated supporting foot and reinforced body design. The wide base provides a stable support point for the fitting and helps maintain its position within the installation, particularly where the bend forms the transition from a horizontal pipeline to a vertical riser or connected component. The reinforced structure contributes to the mechanical stability of the assembly and makes the fitting particularly suitable for installations where reliable support is an important consideration.

Available in a range from DN40 up to DN600, the fitting is designed according to EN 545, with flange end connections according to EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16. A 250-micron epoxy coating provides reliable corrosion protection and contributes to long-term service life, while WRAS certification makes the product suitable for drinking water applications.

 

Designed for working pressures up to PN16 / 16 bar, with pressure ratings of 1.0 MPa and 1.6 MPa and an operating temperature range from -10°C to +90°C, the 500A Loose Flanged Duck Foot Bend provides a dependable solution for water pipeline systems requiring directional change, secure support and installation flexibility.
