GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The 500A Loose Flanged Cross provides a robust and practical solution for creating multiple branch connections within a pipeline network, allowing the flow to be distributed in four directions through a compact and reliable fitting. Manufactured from high-strength ductile iron EN-GJS-500-7, it combines excellent mechanical performance, durability and installation flexibility, making it particularly suitable for demanding water infrastructure applications.
One of its main advantages is the loose flange design. The flanges can be rotated during installation, allowing the bolt holes to be easily aligned with the mating flanges. This considerably simplifies assembly, particularly in pump stations, valve chambers, distribution networks, existing pipeline connections and installations where space or flange orientation may be restrictive.
By allowing easier flange alignment, the loose flange system helps reduce installation time, avoid unnecessary forcing or repositioning of the fitting and minimize installation stress on the connected pipeline or equipment. It also facilitates future maintenance, replacement and network modification operations.
The cross configuration enables the main pipeline to be connected simultaneously to two perpendicular branches, providing an efficient solution for flow distribution, network intersections, branch connections and complex pipeline layouts. This makes the fitting especially suitable for connecting pipes, valves, pumps and other network components where several lines need to converge or branch from a single point.
For additional handling convenience, the fitting incorporates an integrated handling hole on the body. As visible in the fitting design, this dedicated feature assists with the positioning and manipulation of the fitting during transport and installation, particularly on larger and heavier sizes. It provides installers with a convenient handling point when manoeuvring and aligning the cross within the pipeline system. This feature should be considered a handling aid rather than a certified lifting point, unless an approved lifting capacity is specifically confirmed by the manufacturer.
Available in a range from ND40 up to ND600, the fitting is designed according to EN 545, with flange end connections according to EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16. A 250-micron epoxy coating provides reliable corrosion protection and supports long-term service life, while WRAS certification makes the product suitable for drinking water applications.
Designed for working pressures up to PN16 / 16 bar, with pressure ratings of 1.0 MPa and 1.6 MPa and an operating temperature range from -10°C to +90°C, the 500A Loose Flanged Cross is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including drinking water networks, bulk water storage, process water systems, pump stations, sewage water networks and irrigation projects.
The combination of multi-directional flow distribution, easy flange alignment, reduced installation time, integrated handling assistance, strong ductile iron construction and reliable corrosion protection makes the 500A Loose Flanged Cross an efficient and versatile solution for modern water networks requiring reliable and flexible pipeline branching.
